we drink
and the world becomes
fluid and cinematic
i don't know how it all started
but words pour out
not like i mean
[and i'm so sorry]
when i look in your eyes,
all my defenses and anger
crumble and fall
outside the world is dark and sleeping
while thoughts
are being born inside my head
and many things necessary
are left unsaid
sometimes emotion
becomes a chain
that won't let me speak
the right words
when all i want to do
is kiss you
and apologize
i'm held back again
[and i'm so sorry]
for the time i wasted
[we're so wasted]
that i can't let go so easy
too many cigarettes
too many drinks
a futile attempt
to wash away the truth
so many exchanges,
changes,
walks alone
talks together
[let's fall apart, together]
and it only hurts so much
because we love
so strong
the night stretches on
parking lots,
and balconies,
vodka swigs,
another pack gone,
we're chasing each other
in circles
[i never mean to hurt you, i hope you know that]
words get twisted
we're both spent
but don't worry, my love
everything will be better
tomorrow.

Beautiful.
How many vodka swigs and cigarettes does it take to wash away the guilt of losing someone; endless I believe. Excellent job.
