The pain slowly envelops my mind.
The pains from lives past
And lives to come run through my body.
All this and much more.
The pain of a young mother,
Who feels great pain as she delivers her first child.
The pain of the heretic,
As she is burned at the stake.
All this pain
And so much more.
The pain of a young lover,
Who first gives herself to the man of her dreams.
The pain of the little girl,
As she screams about a scrape of her knee.
All this pain
And so much more.
The pain of the general,
When he loses the battle.
The pain of the soldier,
When he encounters his first battle wound.
All this pain
And so much more.
The pain of losing a loved one.
The pain of losing a pet.
The pain of losing a lover.
The pain of losing a child.
All this pain
And so much more.
The pain of the ages.
The pain of lives past.
The pain of lives to come.
The pain of new lives coming into the world.
All this pain
And so much more.
The pain of young lovers who make love at midnight.
The pain of two lovers when they are separated by death.
The pain of two parents when they lose a child.
The pain of two parents when a child comes into this world.
All this pain
And so much.

Why does pain exist?
I guess to make you stronger. What doesnt kill me, makes me stronger. Or, to protect you, like, burning your fingers on the stove - you stop immediately. So much pain, why do we feel it?

I liked this piece because it mentioned both the kinds of pain, emotional and physical. I like it when a poet can look at all different perspectives. Nice job.

Very nice, my deary. The way that the words flow together, the essence of the emotion. It is all captured here. Very good write.
