We sit together in this rusty pleather chair
Me and my brain and this disaster
Nagging at the corners of my heart
An I.V. beep makes itself known
Steady and alive
We listen and it matches my own
His skin is sunken in to his shallow cheek bones
The vains on his face and arms are apparent
Purple, we are glad there is still blood flowing through them.
For now.
We bow our heads and lean together
As we listen to the beeps join together
One long death song
Time for racing hearts and goodbyes
We watch together as his gurney is taken four floors down
To the cold dank basement, with water dripping down the cement walls
Me and my brain,
We wave goodbye to the disaster
Nod our heads solemly,
And join our life in the morgue.
Author notes
That was just random. I didn't quite know how to end it, and it's probably not that great, but tha's okay.

So sad, and morbid, but lovely and depressing all at the same time. I like poems like this, makes me stop and think...which i like to do. :-)

I liked it but I did think the ending was weak feel free to edit before the contest closes. Though this was unique and lovely, but depressing. I wasn't sure if you were talking about yourself dying or someone else. Either way it was good. The title could use some work. This has potential. Thank you for entering.
