Why do you do it?

Missing image
Promises were made
I thought you were legit
I fell for all your lies
I have to admit

I promised to stay by your side
Always to be your friend
All along you were lying to me
And you would to the very end

Luckily I figured it out
With the help of one so dear
But still the hurt lives inside
And will until the end I fear

~Tisha Rene~

disclaimer: all is fine, not sad, just getting out old ickies

Author notes

I often wonder why people hurt others. How can you fall a sleep at night when someone is in pain do to what you have done or said? I have felt that by the same person more than once in this lifetime and so many other lifetimes before. Why would he do that? Why would he be so cruel to one that was a friend? Makes no since, but you live and learn and move forward. Luckily for me I found someone that would never hurt me, goes to bed at night knowing he is loved by me 110% and returns that love with all his heart. I wish everyone could be so lucky.

Your discription of lying and decit is perfect. I too have fall multiple times for this guy and I knwo he's lied to me and hurt me. Probably more than he knows. When we go through expirences like these it test our stamina and more importantly our hearts. Consequently, my heart is still hurting, the wound practically still open. But I know my life has to go on. Anyway, Great piece. I love your ryhming and pacing. Good Job

    beautiful imagery...and with

such an honest anguish voice. Loved your author notes,
I too..have learned much easier to walk this world
    without a heavy back-pack.
and thank gawd, we found out although brutally done,
just what lies in some people's hearts. At least,
you didn't close your eyes, and chase this nasty fellow.
Thankyou for writing this, a good example for us to
follow.......empty our backpacks..get out the old
    ickies..
    great job!!!

To many, causing pain in others is nsot big deal. I too wonder why they cannot feel the pain and somehow know they are responsible for someone's misery. Easy to read and understand the sentiments expressed in these lines - liked the flow, rhythm and rhyme as well.

A great write indeed, from the heart! Though I must dissagree with some of the previous comments in that the expectations of lovers go in both directions. Often we are placed to a standard that the other party refuses to commit to themselves.
Some pains extend for centuries and the reasons are lost to all but a few....
But pain, trials, and tribulations do tend to make or break us. The weaker among us are consumed completely, but for those that push through, strength and compassion are gained.
Congrats on another fantastic write, my dear!

    real when it hits

I'm so pleased you managed to escape the cycle of hurt and distrust! When the cut is made though, it DOES feel as if the pain will never leave. Thank God we're such flexible creaures that we can see the new good things when they arrive, and choose to take up with them instead. Its a good thing you added the disclaimer - the words are immediate and very very real! Great prescence.

I often wonder why people lay expectations on other people and then blame them for not living up to the fantasy. I guess people are kind of stupid when it comes to love. Yep...that's it. People are ignorant when it comes to love...until they've been hurt a few times.

Ah Luis Royo... he's an amazing artist isn't he? This isn't one of my favorite pieces of his but it is stunning. Now as far as the poem goes... t was a well written poem but I think that there is a reason why people hurt us. If there were no trials and pain in life.. there would be no compassion and we wouldn't learn or grow... you know?

    Not bad, though sad....

I think legit. should be spelled thus, if it's short for legitimate, as I suspect - sorry for being pedantic.

first I would like to say that it is good to know that this is not about a present situation. It seems to be a write that is full of questions that unfortunately probably can never be answered. The whys of people's actions......however what I have learned s that one can minimize ones own pain by simply moving on and forgiving the other person [even if you feel they might not deserve it] for in the end it is of benefit to YOU, thereby said forgiveness might come out of a need to heal ones own self , and nooooo...it is NOT selfish. It is merely self-preservation. I wish you well,
    reenie

    So True!

I so know what you mean by this. And thank goodness you're just getting the ickies out of your system. Those who hurt others have got to be hurting more than those who are already hurting. And this is where I say "It's about karma." Plain and simple.
Nice to read something from you incredible sexy twin! I love you, hon!
