Stone is his name, hard as a rock
A piece of the earth, born eons ago
Trying to decipher his words penned here
To know what lies in his heart, his soul
Through anger and hate, friendship and love
His voice sings out his lament
Of love gone bad, bitterness abides
His song tells it all, his emotions spent
He knows how he feels, this heart of stone
Knows the happy times, the tears
Someday he’ll weep no more
He’ll mellow over the years
It’s all there in his poetry, the time will come
When we’ll turn to his page and see
Volumes of love and happiness
Mixed in with the misery
So take a moment and peruse
You’ll smile or cry, it’s up to you
Read his heart, his soul through poetry
See what the pen of such a man can do
Contest poem

Author notes
I had never read this poet before the contest, but found him to be a very interesting person, an old soul fighting to get beyond this shell of the new person he's been thrown into. The emotion expressed in his poetry is strong, impressive. I hope you'll check him out.

this is a pretty awesome poem! I like how you depict a rock's story and it's aging. It really made me stop and think for a couple minutes!
-
Very moving
It is clear from this poem and the poetry your friends wrote about you, that you have been gifted with "The Sight" The ability to see what can be. To look at the pile of crap and know how beautful the flower will be when it grows. I was encouraged by this poem. So much of my work is not just dark it's black. I dream of my first sappy love poem. -
Beautifully Written!
This is Glorious!! What a beautiful tribute you have penned here! The word usage is magnificent, and it flows so smoothly! It was such a warm, touching, and pleasing read. On your author page, you said you didn't think you were that good...HOG-WASH!! This is incredibly written and executed. You can "feel" the "heart" you put into it in every word. Truely a masterpeice!! Loved this one, Catz, and will be back to read more
Many hugs,
Mary

This is a lovely poem. It's amazing that you never met this person before you wrote it, and then you can write this fantastic poem. Congratulations on your trophy

Very good indeed.
I know I'm late to make any comment but just want you to know that I MUST detour from reading your poetry to have a look at Stone's. You have given such a graphic picture of this poet it is compulsive. Thanks again for leading me down unknown paths.
LOL Hugh. -
Poetry is the language of the soul to many and even if the poet is not one to write "personal" poems I guess at least a part of his personality will always come through. So if youwant to know someone and if he or she happens to be a poet I think its a good place to start. You have captured the rock in your beautiful words which are so elegant.

WOW, an amazing write Dee!!! Another one I have not had the privilege of reading, but I will make note to check out. I love your writing, you always take the time to get to know people thru their work...you are an incredible, sweet and caring soul. A big

Hi, I'v been away for a while, and now that I am back, I didn't realize how much I have missed reading your work, as always this was very beautiful, you seem to do what I have noticed you do best and that is see someone as well in their heart and soul as you do outside where others may never take the time to do, your the best, and I love reading your work, I hope you will take the same chance and read my work as well, and let me know what you think.

Change is the only thing that is certain in this life.
Therefore you are right, with time, will come new love
and happier memories for him...
Love comes and goes
Like the ebb of tides
Sometimes there's trust
and other times lies
To often a doing
of what think should be done
Instead of just being
who we are, the real one
Hugs and love...Eddy -

I haven't read Stone either, but am now intrigued to see if I can perceive what you have clearly done, a thoughtful and very well written work on what seemed to me to be a difficult contest. You really seem to get under his skin, do a geographical
survey of the depths of this man, and I love the last line, really love it. -
Perdiction through poetry, like reading palms.
I think good poetry says much more than palms, though. lol
Very nice tribute, catz. I hope your prediction is right. -
great
nice tribute to him. I'm sure he loves it (did you tell him?). It says a lot and is well written. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the contest (did you win?).

nice poem. you write so well. if you want to see someone who can't write read something I wrote. I really shouldn't even be on this site. But your writing is really good. don't insult yourself.

Nicely done, Dee. The poet who can get his emotions into his words is indeed an excellent writer....gl

I don't think Stone has read this yet but I'd be interested in his feedback on it.

This is beautifully written. It shows you did spend time to get to know the poet. It shows you're compassionate and loving. Though all the time you were describing him, it reflects on you. And through your poem, I get to know the poet himself too. What a great piece. I'm going to put it in my library.
Love,
Vivian -
Excellent POEM !!!!!!!
Wonderfuly written indeed ! I can feel that you've captured who he is and what his happy ever after will be. Amazing !
The unveiling is the hardest part,
After tossing the anger out, Soon will soften the soul . I simply LOVE this !

This was a really great poem and I agree that this was a wonderful idea for a contest because you now have me intrigued so now I need to check him out myself.
-
Dee this is wonderfully written and I've never read Stone before but will have to take a look now. I think this is a great idea for a contest. Getting to know other writers you maybe would never have read and introducing them to those of us who never read them. Super idea and you did a good job here.
