Forever

If there were words of any language
to express the small tingly sensations
I get when thoughts of you appear
I would collect them in a little box
and keep them until my last breath
So precious would they be with each
memory of you kept safe forever.

If there was a touch I could give
that would exhibit the deeply moving
love I feel when your caress falls
upon my skin, I would hold it inside
my heart, wanting to stay in suspended
fulfillment until time falls away
and nothing is left but us, forever.

If there were a taste I could find
that reminded me of you, it would
come in little drops of dew from
heaven shaped in hearts and stars and
they would spark a fire in my heart
every time they fell on my tongue just
as our love will sparkle there, forever.

If there were a moment in time that
I could freeze it would be the moment
I knew you were the one, my soul mate,
and every moment that passes from then
adds to the utmost need I have for you
to be in my life, a dream of the beautiful
life we will have together, forever.

If there were a record I could keep
of the chagrin I have in every spoken
word from your mouth and every look from
your eyes and all the beauty I see in
the human being you are and who you have
become during this time we have been
together, it would go on forever.

If there were emotions that I could show
conveying the joy in my heart, knowing
I have a unique opportunity to know
a person as magnificent as you and to
share my life with, I would bound them
to the world with every breath singing,
