dressed in black, a hungry child.
Confused about why she's here,
her natural habitat was so near.
Young cub in the city,
forced from the wild
a home so lush and pretty
hungry cub in the city.
So young and yet forced to roam,
concrete sidewalks are her home.
The people just stop and stare,
as if to say "how could you dare"?
Young cub in the city,
forced from the wild
a home so lush and pretty
starved cub in the city.
Come on folks it's just not right,
watching nature fade out of sight.
Come on folks it's just not fair,
What if it's you and not the bear?
Young cubs in the city,
that fact it's now common
is disgraceful and a pity.
help the cubs out of the city.
Author notes
The song used for this parody was written by Nick Gilder and the song was "Hot Child in the City". A one hit from the 80's.
I live in East Tennesse where the Black Bears are both plentiful and hungry. A bear making its way to the city is increasing at an alarming rate.
Obviously bears are not the only casualties to urban growth. More and more deer can seen searching for food on the side our interstates and we have to limit the amount of fish we eat do to polution.

Cudley babies
these babies are so unsure of the society they were brought in to,the cities they wander into to find food and security, one has to wonder if they will survive,Good job on this one, thank you for entering and good luck..MM

I'm not sure what this means but I love th eimagery of th ecute cub.
I aslo love the rhythm
the lines didn't flow good enough though to the next ones. It seems like something was missing
but this was cute I like this -
Good write and great parody of the '80s song. It is sad when creatures in nature die out. I mean, how often has it happened when bears wander into a city and usually end up being shot by law enforcement because they are in fear of the bear endangering the citizens? Anyway, good write. Good luck in the contest.

So well written here
Yes if one would think for just a moment with our attitudes toward animals when they overpopulate and we unthinkingly just take them down . When us as humans overpopulate look at the countries from a far and tell me where will we go when their is not enough food to eat and we have deleted the animal species . I see we as the people falling into our own trap indeed .Makes you wonder who will be taken out for others to survive
