On a radiant day;
I saw in the sprinkler,
That I had set on low;
Birdies at play.
Fluttering their wings,
Taking little baths,
Digging for grubs,
Dancing with glee;
In the sprinkler's little Eden.
What!?!
Did you see that??
That one little birdie pecked that other little birdie away.
That awful birdie!!
So I turned off the sprinkler,
And sicced my cat Fluffy on the bad little birdie.
Oh no!!
Fluffy's got the wrong one!
Bad Fluffy!
So I sent my dog Rover to take care of the Fluffster,
Sic-em Rover.
Within seconds,
The screaming of animals is unimaginable;
Oh the horror!
I run to the yard,
And pull them apart.
But the cat's ripped my dog's eyeballs out!!
So I had Rover put to sleep,
And Fluffy de-clawed;
I still set the sprinkler low on dry summer days:
.......I love watching the little birdies.

This one made me laugh.
I love how this poem went from a radiant day to eyeballs being ripped out, and back to those birdies at play. I wish you the best in this contest. Thanks for the fun read.

Interesting Twist...
This poem takes a whole different meaning when you
" turned off the sprinkler,
And sicced my cat Fluffy on the bad little birdie.
Oh no!!
Fluffy's got the wrong one!
Bad Fluffy!
So I sent my dog Rover to take care of the Fluffster,
Sic-em Rover.
Within seconds,
The screaming of animals is unimaginable;
Oh the horror!
I run to the yard,
And pull them apart.
But the cat's ripped my dog's eyeballs out!!"
But quite disturbingly entertaining...
Salute!

LOL, a friend sent me the link to this because she knows I like twisted humor.

Funny indeed and the last two lines really made the poem for me. One of the better humor pieces I've read on AP.

What an odd funny little poem Its Great!

-
Love your sense of humor. It's great how much more sinister the subject matter appears in comparison to the language you've used. Extremely funny use of emphasis by contrast, and a thoroughly enjoyable read!
I must diverge from the popular opinion and admit that I do not love watching the little birdies. But, they do love watching me.. Alot.. On the toilet....
I get very uncomfortable talking about it. I don't know why I brought it up.

Excellant/horrific/fun
A most ironic and humorous write. I too love watching birds, from the sparrows, to the robins, crows and seagulls. Very well written indeed.

you can see another one that I created in Windows Paint named: Jose del Norte, he is one of my favorites; you can highlight and copy him for use right from my work.

Funny,Funny, Funny!
My wife wouldn't approve. So I won't tell her.
-
Wow this is pretty good! I liked in the beginning how you described all of the birdies actions.
Ok but the cat ripping the dogs eyeballs out was gross, and didn't have much to do with watching birdies *shutter*
-
me too...
I love the little birdies
and watch them ev'ry day.
I spread some bread crumbs on the lawn
so I may watch them play.
I so adore their lovely song,
and love their brilliant colors.
And so I trap them all in glue
and toast them 'tween two crullers.

And I thought fried pidgin was bad. (LOL)
