Poem written in Harbin, China (week I'll never forget)

Michael, you have my heart
You have all my love as well
You have captured my attention
amidst the chaos- standing there.
And it's been six hard months since
that cold night we said “farewell”.
And five months that taught me everything
about the love that we both share.

I talked to you in Harbin
While I was sitting on my bed
You called hoping to wake me
And we talked into the day
On the third call I could hear you
And I listened to every word
And when we both hung up
I bowed my head and thanked the Lord.

China has been so lonely
without a man like you close by
without your hand to hold onto
and firm shoulder to lean upon.
But soon I'll finally see you
And I'll have you by my side.
And in my joy I'll hold you tight
And I will sing to you this song,

“Sweep me away, brave Michael
Let all your worries melt away
come now, dear boy, and hold me close.
Let's whisper the words we want to say.
We are both finally together
your hand's in mine, my hand's in yours
and side by side let's walk through life
leaving our footprints on these golden shores.”
