Worry Not

Of all we've been through,
this has been the most difficult;
a war we didn't want,
but you have served so valiantly.

My pride in you has always been great,
but it grows with each day
that I am near you
knowing soon you will walk away
once again
to do your duty as expected.

Did I tell you I already miss you
and that your heart is safe with me?

As time grows nearer,
my heart grows more heavy
with the pain of missing you
and the fear I have in my heart.

You gave me your heart once,
and you continue to leave it with me,
in my loving care each and every day,
and I know you'll hold mine as well--
lovingly, longing to hold me
as my arms ache for you.

Of all the men I ever met,
you are the one who holds me closest
to your heart,
our minds connect as one
as does our longing only for each other.

Worry not, my Love, that I will stray,
for I cannot;
you hold me captive within your eyes
that I will see in my dreams each night
until you return to me.

Author notes

God bless your husband, your family and all the soldiers and family who have made such a sacrifice to free a country.

This was a very very beautiful piece of writing. I could feel the emotions pour through this. It was heartfelt and very powerful. War causes nothing but heartache and death, yet love will linger on, always.

    So nice

War and the pain it causes so many is not lost in your words. I remember a friend of mine who went off to Nam as most did back then. he had a gal that sais she would wait for him. She did not and on that day he took a bullet in his head I cursed her so. But we were young and life holds no promises. Just my thoughts. And i have a poem on here dedicated to him... A Letter to a friend

Thank you, Bob. I would be honored to read your dedication to your friend if you would send me the link. Your curse for her would echo my own, I'm sure. God bless your dear friend. Patricia

This is very beautiful and endearing. There is so much turmoil in the world. Your poem speaks of faithfulness, and love. With all that is wrong there is righteousness in these words. It is so important that the soldiers know they can trust to have the love they left when they return. Congratulations on honorable mention here dear sister. This is so worthy.

Much Love & Many Blessings ♥

This is a very touching expression of faithfulness, Patricia, the woman who can do this is every bit as strong as her husband who goes for duty.
Congratulations on the HM. I love the bg, it has so many connotations, and the ring looked like a golden teardrop at first.

Thank you, Margaret. Yes, the ring does look like a teardrop. I adored the picture the moment I saw it. I knew it was the only one I could use for this. Hugs, Patricia
