Those Continuing Adventures of
Everyone’s Favorite Mouse:
Trixie the Pesky Mouse Takes
An Italian Trip, A Roman Holiday
Chapter 20 !
W. Peter Sanci Oct. 6 / 2007
What an exciting day it is for our celebrated little mouse, Trixie !
She is going on a European holiday with her cousin,
Pixie, who lives in the country.
Like anyone traveling on a cruise or to a new place,
She went out and bought a brand new wardrobe, and
she looked cute as a Pixie.
The first thing she had to do of course was to pack her bags, and for a little mouse on her first overseas trip,
she just didn’t know what to take, so she over packed,
you could say, you wouldn’t be whistling Dixie.
She had gone out to the nearby travel store to get some of those bright shiny luggage tags, so she would be able to recognize her bags quickly.
She bough the brightest ones she could find, indeed her bags didn’t look at all sickly.
So now it was off to the Pearson International Airport of Toronto, with cousin Pixie in tow.
They got to their gate, and were checked in and they were moving to and fro.
They asked for and receive special seating because they were mice.
So they got to sit up at the front of the plane, wasn’t that nice.
Trixie asked for and received a visit up front to see the
Captain, in the cockpit.
When the went up to see it she thought that the captain was like the priest from the pulpit.
Before to long they were landing in the city of Rome.
It was a beautiful day, and they were anxious to get started touring.
They first had to go and check into their hotel, their suitcases a balancing.
After they checked in they realized how tired they were,
so they decided to have a short little nap.
But they forgot to set their little travel alarm and slept till the next morning, so they gave themselves a little slap.
With that long nap, they both felt refreshed, and ready to take on the city of Rome, so they went right out and bought one of those tourist maps.
The wanted to take in noon mass, celebrated by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict the 16th.
Well they ran to make the start of mass, and they were in awe of the Holy Father in his little Pope mobile, when he saw the two little mice making the sign of the cross, as he drove by, he stopped the car, and got out and to their great surprise gave them each a special Papal Blessing, one that he gives out each month.
Well as you can imagine, those little rascals were so
Pleased with themselves, a Papal Blessing no less on their first day.
They then wanted to tour the Vatican itself, and they wanted to go into the very heart of the catacombs.
Trixie had heard they were the burial places of the
first saints, and martyrs of the Catholic Church.
They went down into the ruins of the catacombs, and they began their search.
What they were searching for they didn’t have a clue.
But they supposed it was for the bones of the dead saints, so they better not go askew.
Woe look over here, yelled Trrixie to her cousin Pixie,
I think I’ve found something exciting.
Well their eyes popped right out of their heads when
They saw a skeleton’s hand creeping out of some sand,
They both felt like they were gasping .
So they made a run for the top of the cave as fast as their little mouse legs would run.
Well, I think we’ve had enough on this trip Trixie said to Pixie, I think we should head for home.
After their long flight back over the Atlantic, Trixie declared to a tired Pixie, no matter how far over this old world you may roam ther’s no place like home.
My dear friends, I have said that to my dear wife after every little or long holiday and it is so true,
