Forgiveness

Forgive and forget
a human fallacy,
but no impossibility.

We need to learn
that Life’s peace
rests in 7 times 70.

Pain will subside
hurt no longer override
when mind over heart
forgiveness we learn.

No buts and ifs,
just follow the Way -
three paths to travel:
myself, with other and Him.

God’s love reflects
in forgiveness’s mirror
hiding its presence
no possibility for me.

Forgiveness a deed
to acquire great peace
its purpose releases
death’s dying within.

Author notes

This is what I have learnt:

Forgiveness is:
*  a conscious activity [I will never forgive if I have to wait for my heart first to heal - therefor I have to make a conscious decision to forgive].
* a way of living [I am commanded to forgive, in the same manner to love]
* a three-way or two-way process [I need to forgive myself for pain I have caused or allowed to be caused in my life, to forgive another that caused the pain, and to seek God's forgiveness for an act of un-love towards myself or others and not for living according to His commandment]
* unconditional [as the commandment is to forgive and not to add buts and ifs].

The nature of forgiveness:

*  Some people find it easier to forgive others than themselves.

*  Some people find it more difficult than others to forgive.

*  There is no such thing as forgive and forget - humans were not made to forget, but the pain of hurt and suffering will subside when forgiveness is practiced.

*  Some people do not want to forgive you when you ask this of them, know that you have done what you were commanded to do, and you are now released from this burden.

*  Forgiveness always begins with the self, it is your life, and you need to learn how to cherish this gift from God.

*  Some people make themselves guilty when they are not, thus the need to free themselves for such unforgiving bondage.

Words of wisdom - at the end of all our struggles, God's command stands. That's the benchmark, so to speak. Great!
