to a friend

With kindness quite refreshing,
when few did understand,
or even cared to finger lift,
you lifted your whole hand.
And penned for me a poem sweet,
with words that drew my tears,
and made me feel as though we met,
long past in distant years.
I thank you for your comfort,
for all the care you show,
how much your words do honor me,
oneday I hope you'll know.
so thank your from the bottom,
of my ever gratefull heart,
for being such a comfort near,
though thousand miles part.
