In many stories there
Is always the small, obscure
Character that provides
The piece of wisdom,
The insightful counsel
And finally the hero/heroine
Knows all the answers of
What they must do
And they go on to live
Happily-ever-after
I realized that I am that miniscule role
And that's all I'll ever be
I left as quickly as I came
I played my part well
But you never took my advice

I like how you set this up. Good write!

I know how this feels. Sometimes people just think that they can make it all on their own, with no help from anyone else. Unfortunately for them, it seldom works out when it's only their plans.
For those small characters, sometimes you become the biggest character by means of helpfulness, so wield that power carefully.
Thank you for entering and good luck in the contest.

makes me shiver
that character provides a contrast and helps in the working out of the plot so he/she is useful. Do they really feel ignored or do they feel important in some strange way? They feel like they should be heeded.
