Diversity

Missing image
I am surrounded by diversity
every turn I make,
everyone that is dear to me
I accept them for love's sake.

My husband is Archie Bunker
we always disagree,
opposites attrack they say
patience is the key.

My mom she is a martyr
she lives for pity sake,
she does not believe in giving
with her its take,take,take.

My sister is loud and boisterous
she will not hold her tongue,
she has been the boss of me
since we were very young.

My daughter is a genius,
my son he likes to play.
As you can tell there is conflict
in my life everyday.

I am the invisible glue
that fits them like a glove.
One thing they have in common
is my everlasting love.

    Glue, eh?

Wonderful write that celebrates the broad spectrum of personalities evident in every family. I also have many odd characters in mine, with me being one of the oddest! I like to see a more complete proofread prior to submission. I'm noticing a several punctuation errors, mostly revolving around possessives. All in all, this is a lovely poem. Keep your pen to the page and thanks for entering!

It seems every family has to have someone to be the glue. In mine, it is my grandmother, and most of the time it is also me (but I don't show them how easily I can break). Apart from some apostrophe errors, it was very well formed. This is a wonderful poem and I appreciate your story. Thank you.

    WONDERFUL!

Hey! I really loved this little ditty. Thank you for sharing this piece that explored your family. Everlasting and unconditional love - from a mother to her children, a daughter to her mother, a sister to another, a wife to a husband - as you said 'the invisible glue' that could mend and keep a family together. Good write!
