How I really feel about you

Just the sound of your name
is enough to turn my heart cold
Im your daughter and you love me,
at least that is what i'm told.

I guess you do love me
in your own fucked up way
maybe one day you'll even tell me
but maybe not today

Today I'm angry!
Today I'm weak!
Today I hate you
and we dont even speak!

I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!
It takes over my mind
it's the only emotion
that my body can find.

maybe things will change,
and I wont hate you anymore
but lets take it slowly
thats all you can ask for.

I don't respect you
not at all, not one bit
you've never been there for me
and thats the truth isnt it?

You can't even admit to me
that you hurt me like you did,
you left me confused and alone
Dad I was just a kid.

Life is just a game to you
you don't really care at all
dont worry Dad, your day will come
and I'll be there to catch your fall.

Author notes

This is deep and very raw for me to express, although it is a part of my childhood it is something that time will never heal for me.

Do you feel the pain reading this, that I felt writing it?

I can sense your pain, but I read this from an entirely different perspective. It makes me appreciate the fact that I am able to be myself with my kids, and laugh, have fun, create together, share so much joy. I can't relate to your father at all; he'll never know how much he's lost.

Technically, this is a very successful poem. The rhymes are clean, but you're also using the right words. There's always a danger when you're writing about something personal and painful that you'll miss the mark by choosing a word that makes the rhyme rather than one that expresses how you truly feel. I think you've done a nice job of meshing the art with the message. While the emotion is raw, you clearly spent some time working on this. Sometimes I find that putting my thoughts down on paper and working them into a poem is a great way to impose some order over the chaos from which these ideas spring. I hope that getting these thoughts out of your heart and into the world help you to put things into perspective, as well.

    Excellent

This poem is full of raw energy and emotion. This poem has so much angst that you can tell it is about something you care deeply about. Relationships with family members can be the most difficult of all. This is a dark poem but one that many people will be able to relate to to some extent. Well-written and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing.

I think you summed up every emotion I have for my father. Every word I've wanted to say to him. Truely a great work. Its hard to read something that relates so much to you, I can't imagine how it feels to write it. Beautiful work, use of words, and I commend you on your courage to write this.

Love time will heal it. Believe me that it will. I understand where you are coming from and I can tell you that in the end it will not be your main focus. Writing as you may already know, helps you heal the hurt. The gaps in between will fill in time. I wish that I had found this site long ago. What a way to let of steam.

Look I do not know what happened between your father and you. Perhaps it is something that will get better as time goes on, I hope that it does. For your sake right now just take it slow.

    Good piece this one.
