What caused this change in you?
Only yesterday I sang you asleep
Mother’s milk should never rotten
my diapered tot, you’re not forgotten.
Was it my working nights
that lead you to start fights?
A mother shouldn’t feel shame,
perhaps it was those video games.
My child, I don’t recognize you
the lack of hair, your vacant stare.
Poison now stains my babe’s face,
but you’ll never fall from my grace.
Your friends now play different games
a soldier, so quick to enlist your name.
Did my cookies and lemonade
force you to join this twisted crusade?
What caused this change in you?
What blackened your heart’s hue?
Mother’s son, perhaps forever gone
my child, where did I go wrong?
