Finally

Ready to fall
I'll take Your hand
I don't need wings to fly

Teach me to walk,
Tread on the stars.
Bathed in pale moonlight.

Take me higher.

Finally I'm free
Rusted chains forgotten

Finally I believe
In heaven, in hope

Finally I'm going
To surrender it all
Because nothing comes close

To You

Finally, You found me

Finally.

I didn't think
That I'd amount,
Be enough for You

But Your touch tells me
That wishes suffice…
Even if they never come true

You don't need me
To justify
Explain the pain I put You through

You call to me
As if I never left
Said that:
“Love”
Could heal those wounds

Finally, I can breathe
For the first time,
Real air
Finally on my knees
In silent
Sweet prayer

Finally I know
It's not about me, no
All for You
Everything…

Finally, I understand.

Finally, something real.

Finally.

Take my hand.

I'm ready to fall.

Author notes

This was a love poem written for class - she said to take a unique perpective on love. I chose God - here's to you Abba

I'd be grateful for a thoughtful critique, if you have time :)
