someone dropped sky in her eye,
& it leaked through the chocolate like water
i saw her, once --
standing knee-deep in yesterday's drink,
wet hair curling around her face
in the shape of a borrowed halo
she hid behind masked mirrors,
collecting my thoughts with fingers
that dance across my window,
trailing fickle kisses in white mist
but i need to wake from my slumber,
& she needs me to breathe.
Author notes
inspired by 'split personality' and a dream i had one night.
