If I feel I close my eyes
Within, I know, I can seek
That place where nothing's wrong
And the world, itself, disappears
It's a place called oblivion
A darkness that lies behind my eyes
So far away
In dreams and sleep: gentle breathing
My heart moves, its monotonous beat
Where there is just emptiness
A hollow feeling, nothing's there
But in oblivion there is peace
Peace unending
My soundless screams have run
Their echoes through the day
My dry tears are vapour now
Unending
I want to close my eyes
And go away; become swallowed by oblivion
But my eyes are open
My heart continues its endless beating
And here I stand, awake
Forever it seems I'll live
In a world of darkness
Author notes
Mostly an ode to misery. Oblivion and death the last hopes of one who cries.

Shoot... Yeah I know how you feel. Nice job on this one. Seriously. Slightly depressing but that's obviously how it was intended.

This is beautifully expressed, a very talented mind. I've read many poems, but none as real. I could almost feel that it had a pulse.
