The sky was the limit

Think back to when
  we were younger
Remember all of our
  unsatisfied hunger

We wanted the world
  nothing more nothing less
We took to the streets with smiles
never knowing how fate would press

We were taught of love
  how to treat our friends
Money comes second
  first you tie loose ends

Everything we watched had
  lessons for the young
And friendship and loyalty
were in the songs we sung

Then something changed
    someone changed the rules
And those older and younger
    flocked to them like fools

We're to young to know
  the words that we speak
We're to old to rely
on the lessons from last week

We were taught freedom religon
  Freedom of speech
Freedom of choice
  All our dreams within reach

We were taught to treat others
  what we wanted back
Never fight the offenders
  even if they attack

now our faith is censored
  in silence we have faith
Someone may be offended
  be it a single wraith

Freedom has become fear
  Lies are spoon fed
And I'm sick of the taste
  that I've come to dread

I want to say God
  over the radio waves
Say the name of a drug
  without paranoia's caves

Everyone gives it up
  Without a fight
Our freedom our dreams
are a s transparent as light

So march at the pulse
  of the strings they use
Jump when they say jump
  guide your freedom to abuse

Or stand up take back what's yours
  Say something that they fear
Say something from the heart
  Say something full of tears

Weep for your dreams
the ones taken in your sleep
Let the words come out
crush the theif's in a heap

I'm sick of being stupid
  for standing for my rights
I'm sick of being stupid
  for trying to fight

Remember when we were young
We all reached for the sky
But now a roof has come over us
  Sheltering us in lies

This was a very good poem, full of impact and the truth of opression. I share a similar idea on freedom, that your mouth is only to be held open if in agreement with whom you are sharing the idea. Good luck in the contest. :]
