Beating red heart rose petals a gift from my son,
it all began when we were taking a nap, he had some fun.
He sneaked out of the house at the little age of five,
picking red roses this I did not know what would arrive.
I was napping, pregnant and sleeping so very deep,
we always took a nap after kindergarten to get some sleep.
But when I awoke I had red rose petals all over my heart,
my precious son began our red heart rose petals from the very start.
My son grew from a boy into a man, red roses was his gift for me,
Mothers day or birthdays he would bring me red roses so I could see.
Beautiful loving red heart rose petals is something we always shared,
but now he died at 24 and it was my turn to give because I cared.
I sprinkled red heart rose petals all over his dead body with love,
our special relationship of red heart rose petals came from above.
Oh my precious son I will always treasure your heart for me,
red heart rose petals I can always dream of and it's you that I see.
Mom loves you my precious Matthew and you are so very missed! But I will always be able to get red rose petals so I can see you and our red hearts of love as mother and son!!

Very wonderful poem,
I like how you began the poem speaking of roses. Yes, roses are very beautiful and the red roses are like the heart. I do love how you've written this and mastered this to remember your son. Sorry for your loss. I try to remember John 5:28,29 whenever I hear of death. And Revelations 21:1-4.
May God Almighty be with you.

So beautiful and touching. So sweet are the rose pettles. So vast is the love between mother and child.

this poem gave me chills wow...I really like how you express so much emotion in the poem. it touched me so much. I loved this poem thank you
-
wow... I'm not even a mother and this poem is so...touching. It shows me that being a mother is just as passionate as having a husband, which I do, but in its own ways. You always think of roses being associated with your spouse, but here you shared a beautiful innocence with your son that will live on forever.

Symbols precious and deep. What a wonderful memory to keep. Life and love dance upon your heart, roses soft in blossom with a bite hidden in the thorns. This touches the heart and calls out to the soul, so precious, so beautiful, so wonderful to behold.
Love, Tom B.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a truly beautiful tribute. Very moving, I was captivated by the innocence of the first few lines, drawn in by the images of a child growing into a man, then saddened by the ending. Thank you for sharing this very special poem.

Such a mournful, doleful write! Such vivid and ardent emotion…the lines, “My son grew from a boy into a man, red roses was his gift for me/Mothers day or birthdays he would bring me red roses so I could see/Beautiful loving red heart rose petals is something we always shared/But now he has died at 24 and it was my turn to give to him because I cared” really gripped me the most. This piece was especially difficult for me because it reminded me of my own brother and mum’s relationship. He once brought her several young, thorny rose plants in which she planted in our yard, all just for her. He loved to get her flowers, and roses were among his favorite to get her. Being a gardener, planting them to last ever long, was something very special and profound between them. Such symbolism in this piece, the deep bond between mother and son, and how tragic and despairing it is when one is lost…but that symbolism remains, and there are the memories evoked by it, like experiencing that person again in the heart, spirit, and mind…very deep and emotional write. Very stirring. Excellent write!!!

I Cannot believe .......
I didn't read this one...This is a beautiful account of a lovely ritual that you and MAtthew shared with each other. How precious is his heart in this poem while he was a little boy laying red rose petals on you as you sleep and how you in turn lay red rose petals as he closed his eyes into eternity...the irony of it all..still a lovely and cherished memory of something that was just you and Mattew...I love this Kelle and I know he does too. Cherish these memeories always they will bring you through some very tough days hon!!!LOVE YOU~~TONI~~

fragrant
Beautiful, fragile, and stunning. the love of a mother for her son. broken as a rose. fragrant petals of love covering death, one last touch, one last showering of affection and gentleness. He is sleeping now but the fragrance of the broken rose says it all. This is stunning, touching and precious. One day in heaven he will be waiting for you and with roses in his hand. God bless you my friend, Mark -
A tragically beautiful write.

Hoodwinked
Kelle,
Morning rose petals with dew, a mother's tears for one whom still watches over her, dwelling in her soul and dancing in her heart. You both fought the good fight and there will come yet another day when you awaken to the rose petals he has once again sprinkled about you, .......the next time around....and the next.

Beautiful indeed
So precious the child and the memories they bestow on our hearts along their journey . You know I was that way with my mom and I save all my rose petals to this day and I sprinkle them on her grave . It is truly beautiful . I will be going soon to sprinkle some more for I am sure I can tell when I need to go visit . She use to call me on the phone and in her voice say PAT
Well even today just out of the blue i hear her saying pat and I know so I go out and read her some of my poetry to ease her worry and let her know Im OK

-
Oh my
This has me in tears and speechless, but just know that I am so touched my your loving story of Matthew....

Lynda

-
oh my
Kelle, this brought me to tears....... how perfectly amazing. I never had any relationship like this at all my my mom. She was an abusive drunk..... I am over those pains now but at times I still sit and wish I has a Mommy who truly loved me. A man always needs a sweet loving mommy in his life. He was so blessed to have you in his life. This was so sweet and touching and I absolutely love it. God bless you princess, Mark

-
I am sorry for your loss. I am sure somehow he has seen this and is very happy to have a mother who loves him so much. I have nothing critical to say, I feel that that would be inappropriate, Besides why would anyone alter anything so purely expressed.
-
Beautiful
I really liked this. Full of bittersweet memories and lots of love. I feel like you need this poem. Please feel free to print it off and frame it to remind you of the happiness waiting for you. http://allpoetry.com/poem/1679813

you have really gripped my own heart with this one, i am fighting through tears as i type this. perhaps its a parental thing that many of the readers will not grasp, the younger ones, i hope they do tho, i hope they can see the love beyond the words, the compassionate heart on display, his and yours. you must keep exploring, as difficult as it might be, allow your soul its space for a while. just a while longer.
blessings and best wishes,
~richard

For got the applause.

Very tender.
As usual your poems an pieces touch my heart. You have a gift of bringing your thoughts and feeling out in beautiful thoughts and words. This is outstanding there is nothing more beautiful than shareing roses with those that you love. The scent color and thoughts behind them are so warm and loveing. What a touching thing for Matt to have done at five, this is something for you to treasure for all of your life. God is with you daily and He is with your son. That is the thing that keeps you going that knowledge, of Gods wonderous love. Let that love always surround you every day. Beautiful poem good luck in this contest. -
This was so beautiful , what a grand sweet gesture from both of you through those years ,
You melted my heart with this .
Healing takes place as you share your wonderful son with all of us...

Souls that have annointed each other before and will, without doubt, annoint each other again.
Perhaps it is only the musunderstanding of purpose that fuels our pain..?
Regardsless, your love is real and your ability to present it is flawless..
How often life proves to be so balanced - extreme joy countered by extreme pain - this challenge we have chosen is mysterious and wonderful indeed.
Godspeed in your quest.
