Beloved Dora

I looked at her and was immediately lost,
lost in the purest of beauty about her
and living only for her from that moment.

She haunted me in the few hours
she allowed me to sleep,
and my every waking thought
was filled by her,
the scent of the flowers of her bath.

Her golden tresses sparkled
as if spun from the sun itself;
eyes that pierced my very heart,
and my body would shake when near her.

I pray I be allowed to have her,
to love her forever,
but if not,
please allow me to look at her
until my eyes grow purely blind.

Author notes

I loved how David fell instantly in love with Dora. It was written of so beautifully by Charles Dickens, and there are few words that could ever compare to the original.

Aww, thank you. I loved reading David Copperfield, and I recently purchased the movie. It makes me just want to read the book all over again. I do hope more will write. This is just a wonderful contest idea. Hugs, Patricia
