Imagine roiling blackness, a dark abyss
suffocating and choking you until you want to cry
the pain this chasm brings is unbearable
in anguish you curl into a ball and pour your soul out through your eyes
till you hiccup your self into a restless sleep
in sleep your fears come alive and haunt you mercilessly
you try to run but you're trapped on all sides by the demons
with a shriek and cold sweat you awake trembling
with parents growling and siblings snapping
you place a mask upon your face to hide the pain
so you won't drag your friends into that garish place
when it becomes too much to bear you turn to your friends
but they don't understand so they accuse you of feigning your reactions
it hurts that they don't understand
it's another blade that rends deep into your heart
to be placed beside the other scars and wounds
left over time to fester and rot
Again you don the deceiving, joyful mask
it will be a long time before you can trust another again
it aggravates and arouses the blackness into a maelstrom of chaos
the abyss morphs into a great Hydra
once you stamp down one unpleasantness
two more raise their ugly marred heads to assault your sanity
the more time you walk int this god forsaken land
the more and more hydra you encounter
imagine years of this drowning aching feeling
and you will understand my tattered and worn heart
