To Hell

A quiet desperation burns,
rising up slowly
and my heart beats,
th-thudding against my ribs,
in a broken rhythm of
sobs and sighs.

I would trip over every
little lost desire,
if only the stolen, soft glances
would fade from the background sea
into the oblivion of it's
cold, dark depths.

I watch your face flicker,
eyes flashing, angry, but then
you smile your façade

and I know the way
your heart whirls and your
lungs stretch open for air,
even though your veins are dry and
the oxygen is lost.

What could you do but fall into yourself,
lost, alone, trembling?

Where could we go on the last night of perfection
but to Hell?

I hide from Heaven, and the angels,
they have fangs.

Where were you when it was me?

I watch your face flicker,
angry eyes flashing,
covered quickly by a
smile

Where could we go,
but to Hell?

Please tell me what you think
