How Do I Forget

Silent tears,
forgotten years,
time passed me by.

I still love you,
I just cant let go,
I must find a way.

How does one let go?
you no longer exist,
my love lingers on.

I want to love another,
I feel its not fair,
to the "other".

How do I set myself free?
how do I forget?
does my love have to die?

Sad and true for anyone with a heart.

Love, even a one way feeling, never dies. it may become less painful as time goes on and it may seem less urgent but, if it was real, it's yours for eternity. As for the poem, anything heartfelt is good.

love never dies, even after the two people have parted ways...the memories are still there and you still remember how you felt about the other person...you grow attached to someone and you stay that way forever...i think that is what people mean by stolen memories, that you have them and you didn't pay for them, except with the heartache you feel for the "other"...

    great poem

    awesome

Computer glitch wiped out my original comment. It was so heartfelt this could never do justice to my first impressions, but I will try to recreate it for you.

At first I was going to approach this poem from the point of view of very systematically reviewing the structure and playing attention to counts (it looks a little like strung haiku). But after the first grouping, I just opened my heart and went with it. I love that there is a story here, between the lines, unsaid and that can be whatever my mind fills in the blanks with. It's a very powerful gift to be able to take the personal and have it speak to others. I applaud you for that. Thanks for an amazing read!
