Morning routine

Every morning when I wake, you're the first thing that I see
and it make's me happy to know that you're lying next to me

As we lay entangled within our cotton sheet
I can't help feeling giddy knowing you've made me complete

You're facing toward me now, with my back against your chest
I will not wake you, for I feel you deserve this mornings rest

Silently I change position for I long to see your face
and those loving eyes in peaceful slumber that could never be replaced

I look at you and try so hard to keep myself at bay
but you are just too beautiful, I can't bare to stay away

So gently I allow my hand to move up toward your lips
and feel the smoothness of your skin against my finger-tips

You have no idea how good you feel, how much warmth you can provide
I have never felt this safe, for once I needn't hide

I move closer now and gently press my hand against your cheek
I'm hoping that you'll wake up soon for it's the rest of you I seek

And then as though you herd my thoughts, you open up your eyes
and I smile knowing that you're everything I fantasize

And so we laugh together as I roll you out of bed
and get lifted off the ground with you cradling my head

I look down at the wedding band I wear around my finger
and wrap my arms around your neck, letting our kiss linger

This is now a daily thing, our little morning play
because we both said "I do" and gave our hearts away
