The Old Men

Oh! these wily men of yore
they kept secrets in closets
of their weary mind
sharing less than more in kind

Oh! the wise old men
are prophets of peace
they eat less bread
but pat Love to spread

Oh! these endearing old men
they gave us the baton
Of life and Women
in the fields of Athen

Oh! that old men
they pass us by
with a mocking smile
hidden in their wrinkled guile

Oh! the dirty old man,
sneering at the young
dressed in the fox's hide
in pure white, and a Roman nose

Oh! those old men,
Some so gentle, so noble, some so horrid
Still they wait their turn
In silence for a little time in the urn

i loved it. i thought it was a wonderful poem. there are some jokes and songs about the 'Old Men' in life but, i think this is the first poem that i've read that has put them in that view. great job. this is a classic among the poems i've read and i hope to see more like this from you.
