A woman I shall always be
No less a warrior still than he
Her words echoed in the dark
To dance upon the wind
Her voice, low, sweet as a lark
Yet metal it could bend
A stillness from beyond the grave
Echoed in the night
And to all men, a fear it gave
Of death they fled in fright
Once upon a long lost time
A warrior stood his ground
Dying, in halls of Gods to dine
No more may he be found
Reaper casts the blackest look
And mankind trembles so
Fleeing from the lonely rook
And colder winds that blow
And she became a weaker form
Of this race that claimed to rule
Bowing only to the storm
And Gaia's anger, cruel
And yet beneath her lowly frock
The woman's heart doth pound
As ticking time on tocking clock
Races long the ground
Before the eyes of lessened man
She rises from the fall
Extending steady, strengthened hand
To Gaia's wakened call
And all gaze on in stricken pride
Then turn without a sound
And leave her to the words she cried
Unheeding, human-bound
But still she whispers to the wind
And listens to the trees
While man's cold steel starts to bend
Humanity on its knees
Some far-off day in far-off time
She'll welcome Gaia's Knight
Rise above humanity's brine
And soar into the night
Then though they turn and to her hark
No more her hand she'll lend
And her words echo in the dark
And dance upon the wind
A woman I shall always be
No less a warrior still than he
