They had mated for life, the wolf and his wife.
And now into the night they stare
This most unlikely of pair.
She by his side, the two make a pride
bonded in their solidarity
against forces of nature
He is for her and she for him
even though chances are slim
that they will prevail against
the deep winter and wind
