I am not a person,
Or a living thing, you see,
I am just a product
Of your creativity.
My arms and legs and hands and feet
Can't touch, can't hurt, can't feel,
But I hope that in your mind,
I'm very, very real.
I have no bones, I have no blood,
No skin to keep me in;
I have no eyes to see things
And no pulsing heart within.
My arms and legs and hands and feet
Are letters on a page,
My skin is paper, blood is ink,
The bound book is my cage.
Your fingers clutch me longingly,
For I know what you feel:
You wish with all your heart and soul
These characters were real.
But oh, alas, we cannot speak
As we've no mouths to talk,
We'd love to journey to you
But, my dear, we cannot walk.
Reader, we seek refuge
In your wild imagination,
I am one of many
In the Ghosts of Literation.

Such a clever poem I love the rhyme and flow. It's effortless and fun to read. I've never heard of Inkheart but maybe I'll get to read it someday.
