Dawning - each perspective new
A vague fortelling of the past and future
It innocently lies. Telling you
You have a choice to choose.
You grow older whether you like it or not
Eternity etching its passions into times pale beauty.
A certain depth of frustration and Despair is expected.
For after all, what is amazing that doesn't demand sacrifice?
Continuation of the same old story
Yet so vainely conceited as to think we write anew.
What Adventure has not been lived
That the fairy tales have not told?
What knight in spotless armor
Has ever outshone those in ages past
We live in the shadow of the superior ancients
Who were once quite normal before subtle
Memory obscured Truth's lines.
Is there reason for my thoughts
When they've been thought before?
Is there really any comfort in sorrow for those
Who have gone to grey shores?
Why not?
Are we really so vain as to think
We HAVE to be different.
Children's laughter is precious
Every time it is heard.
And sorrow can empathize
With each new lover's tear.

I wrote this while sitting on a fire escape, watching the sunset on my campus...and I was in a very particular mood. 9-25-07
