Chrysalis

She said she never
collected them. They came to her,
all the hearts ~ diamonds on velvet.

She felt adrift on a sea of stars.

No one really understood.
Love was the sound
pulsing through her hand
fluttering in her chest.

Silence has wings and they are full of colors.

When the sails are full,
the ocean thrums beneath
the hull and spume flies.
The heart is released. She knows
the clouds hold the sunlight.

She lets go of them, the hearts, to silence the darkness.

    Wow.

You have enchanted me by your words, my friend...almost as if you are a sorcerer, blowing some sort of concoction on me that sends me into a hopeless spell.

I love the way you wrote this piece, and I do feel as if I'm under some sort of spell, but I love the spell I'm under.

A sad piece, really...but quite hopeful, too...that she could give up what she once held dear. With this piece, I thought that all men seemed in love with her, and...though a part of her wanted to be loved by everyone, there was another part that just couldn't bear loving all of them at the same time. Her concious.

Congrats on the gold. I enjoyed it.

Perhaps, and I will never tell ... perhaps, she is loved by many and seeks only the one she can love. Yes is a sadness not born of sorrow but of riches without meaning.

Thanks for all of your kind and glowing world. It is a gift to have someone share how I have touched them.

      Love, Tom B.

Sing from your center to the soul that is waiting to hear. You have often gifted me with your smile and your love and helped me more often than you know. These are but the gifts I return for all the love given me. I have a long journey in front of me, for I have been blessed with a great deal of love. Only now, am I beginning to recieve what has waited for me to hear.

Especially meaningful are the last two lines. Thank you so much for putting that into the Universe. Patsy

Oh My Love! It is no wonder this poem won GOLD. It is brilliantly executed and as soft as the wing of a butterfly. You have done it again dear brother. There seems to be no stopping your quill. I would never, ever want that anyway! LOL

Beauteous work! You have captured the picture, and the sheer essence of silence, softness, and serenity with this wonderful work of word-art. I am so enthralled by your work Tom. Simply beautiful!

    Always ♥

Thanks Renee. I am blessed it seems at times. I have mastered a great deal of technique and I find it matters little. There is something more, that when it appears, all the exercises and skills are only used to capture the gift and share it with others. I feel blessed this site because it has increased the size of my sharing. When my words are alive they touch so many hearts and I know, oh how I know, I am only a space they pass through.
      Love, Tom B.

This is just a moments illumination with the focus on love. The way we allow our spirit to be filled and cascade across another not with need but simply with a feeling of peace and the undercurrent of joy to tease forth a smile. Love, Tom B.

    Beautiful.

This is just stunning and beautiful. your title speaks volumes, as does the poem itself. You can just feel the silence, the pulsing of the hearts and the sea. I just adore the way in you turn a phrase in this poem. It is so well done that I can hardly find words to express my feelings about this. I loved everything about it.

Oddly enough, or not, I related to quite a bit within your poem. This is beautiful! Normally I would dive a bit into this but, I'm late in judging so, I will come back to it! I absolutely love this though, please know that. It far exceeded my expectations. Thank you for entering and best of luck to you.

Perhaps, the greatest danger is to pretend that you were not involved at all. We leave wakes in the ether and upset many a plan by our passing. We are not at fault but we can not pretend to not be without effect.

Silence is an opening for us to give birth to. It is a canvas for us to create upon. It is also a prescence in its own right and creates with us in turn.

I wanted to write something for the contest Sound but I couldn't find the minutes of meditation and silence I needed. This came to me almost like a fairy spoke it into my ear. When I was finished I knew I had written a piece of your heart. Thanks. I am the one who is gifted. The joy you bring is a light on the the face of my soul.

Soul can never expect less of the heart when its wings hold the colors of the universe. Even in silence, we know its song, the one that is mind etched in angel glow in any moment given to love--vibrant, those star struck hollows of your heart given to wings and morning, tomis.

Our heart is not an object that beats out blood, that is just a muscle. The center of our being is a point of balance within ourselves and a doorway to all of the wonders and miracles that exisit in the sea of joy.

Thanks for all of the sweet truths you share with me. May your day be blessed and the joy a Light in the center of your being.

    Priceless

The depth of metaphors in this piece specifically speaks to me in an awakening process I have been going "growing" through.
If there was a way to pen the profoundness of this sense of place I am now aware of.. I would say that you have captured it with a existent quality of excellence. I will forever return to this and mark this as a page in my diary - even if you had no idea.
Thank you this touches a heart so deep tonight I will sleep in peace like never before..
Not bad for a quickie huh?

The truth is this was my second poem for this contest. I wrote Bookmarks and realized it was too long and I couldn't cut it down. So I wrote this one. It felt like it worked nicely and created feelings and thoughts that would touch a person's spirit in a loving way. Glad, really glad that it touched you so deeply. Love, Tom B.
