Witch-watcher waits on her seat on the moon,
Falling asleep to the moon-bird’s croon;
She sees all the world, the world sees not her,
The earth spins around, all the clouds are a blur.
She blows on her flute, a slow, haunting tune,
For the witch-watcher knows dawn will break very soon;
She flies to the north and the north flies to her,
The earth spins around, all the clouds are a blur.
The next night, it is clear from her seat on the moon,
The only sound there is the red-throated loon;
She smells of the night and the night smells of her,
The earth spins around, all the clouds are a blur.
