This Guy Sounds Fantastic (But I Know Better)

Dan Polecheck is from the little town of Algoma, Wisconsin.  It is a picturesque little town located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Dan is a retired US Navy veteran that has seen the world, albeit through a porthole. His writings are definitely influenced by his time in the military, especially his tours in Vietnam. His poetry is also influenced by the four wonderful grandsons that have blessed his life, Dan has a great sense of humor and has the ability to laugh at himself and this humor can also be seen in his writing. Dan has a passion for the sea and the Orient. This may account for the abundance of haiku that he has written in the last several years.

This is definitely what I am after in short bio -- I know where you're from, where you are, what you've done that's influenced your writing, what kind of writing you do (humor) and that you have a passion for Asia. Very nice.

That said, I do think this can be honed down a little bit and I hope you won't mind that I've taken the liberty here to show you what I mean:

Hailing from Algoma, Wisconsin and influenced by his time in the military, Dan Polecheck is a retired US Navy veteran and proud grandfather who has seen the world, albeit through a porthole. He is a humorist and thanks to his tours in Vietnam, loves all things Asian, including haiku.

Thank you for participating in this bio "workshop" and all the best in your future writing endeavors.
