Author notes

I just love blue jays. Unfortunately, I don't see them often. They are commonly seen in North America.

      smiling.......

I love this photo. Blue jays are gorgeous, but kind of feisty, compared to other birds. I've only seen two or three of them in the past years.

    Beautiful

OMG I dropped my mouth open at the site of the picture because I live in Washington State and we do not get bluew jays of that caliber instead we get scrub jays like in California and Florida and other areas and we also get stellar jays which have a black head and a top knot so when I saw the title and the picture I wa sinstantly swept off my feet and smile sbecause the blue jay is a mighty beautiful bird. very beautifully penned Haiku and keep up the good work

      Thank you!

I don't get to see blue jays very often, but when I do, I'm in awe of them.

      Thank you, azure85.

I wish I saw blue jays more often. I've seen only three in the last ten years. I love the picture of this baby blue jay. He looks like he's lost in thought.

    Very Good

I love your background and picture! I have had a few blue jays this year, they are much larger than one would expect, made my cardinals look tiny! They are very possesive of the bird feeder and will not allow the other birds to feed. They are a bit aggressive it appears and the other birds hide when they show up. Great job on this piece and good luck in the contest!

      Thank you so much, Dawn.

They sure are aggressive! I'll never forget a time about ten years ago when my wife and I were feeding the squirrels on our patio with peanuts. A blue jay swept in like a bolt of lightning, and snatched a peanut right out of a squirrel's little paws. I've never seen a squirrel get as rowdy as I saw that day. He was angry!

      Thank you.

Birds make such nice subjects for haiku poetry. Blue Jays are my favorite.

      I love blue jays, too.

I've seen them only a couple of times in the last ten years. They are so gorgeous. I saw one in my brother's backyard a few months ago. When my son was a baby, we used to leave peanuts on our patio for the squirrels, and it was so funny one day, because this blue jay swept down like a bolt of lightning, and snatched a peanut right from the squirrel. I never saw a squirrel get ticked off like I saw that day. It was so funny.
