In Candlelight

Echoing your laughter
hollow emptiness replies

passeth not yet understanding
though in peace I sometimes lie

seeking beauty in the essence
of the love you left behind

tattered heart bereft of solace
tears replaced by wistful sighs

solely gifted
gleams your memory
in my eyes.

Author notes

What is lovely never dies,
but passes into other loveliness,
star-dust, or sea-foam, flower or winged air.

Sometimes we have to hold onto those beautiful memories in order to cope. This was lovely. Thanks for the entry.

The candlelight and the memories soften the reality of loss... a poem that many can relate to. There are many lovely things that stay in our eyes forever. Thank you for this entry.

This is really quite well written. The rhyme is definitely present, but isn't overstated - the words just flow off the tip of the tongue.

Short, and very sweet. It's hard missing someone you know isn't coming back - that empty kind of denial memories leave behind.

Or at least that's what I read from it,

its what I've come to call a hologram piece

depending on how I read it its three viewpoints or voices, this is the second piece that has happened like that in relation to a recent loss, thanks for your comments.
