If there was a way to spotlight skin
like black light
beam
bone scan
you would see
lip
hand, fingertip
traces
skin-rubbing
exposing ecstatic moments
face, forehead imprint
kiss prints
flesh used to dab
my skin has reason to fold over
memories unblemished
indelible

Prompt:
What is lovely never dies,
but passes into other loveliness,
star-dust, or sea-foam, flower or winged air.

Congrats to you, this is so much like the one I just wrote for your contest - only like about 10 times better...lol,...I LOVE the line,
'my skin has reason to fold over' - that is excellent

This is truly a beautiful poem. I loved the line, "my skin has reason to fold over". For those we've touched and been touched by in our life, they all leave something on our skin. Beautiful entry

the do...little patches of memory...ty for the judging.

This is indeed lovely... yes, there are small secret letters written on our skins - and on the skins of those that we've touched and loved - that can't be erased. I loved this poem - thank you for this entry.

beautiful! such tenderness
to these words, even though some of the images are stark, abrasive, almost...
loveliness exposed beneath the surface of harsh reality!

loss has its way of marking us... I refuse to be one of those dropped-cornered mouth women... I smile when I see what's been left on my skin... most times.

It's such a nice idea that the hand might tell it's own story - kind of like a version of 'If these walls could speak'. I really enjoyed it.

I have a story that is my book that I am writing that evolves from a woman looking at her hand spotlighted in sunlight....

"my skin has reason to fold over
memories unblemished
indelible"
I know this poem's music. It speaks to my heart. I've always liked the word "indelible"...something that can never be erased, not by soap, sand or tide. Good luck in Nic's contest, my Friend.

you've been busy! This one is great, i love the premise and the way you've presented it. a few too many 1 line stanzas flesh used to dab? indelible has never been one of my favorite words, so it feels like a weak ending to me, but perhaps that's just a personal thing :) I liked the word 'bone scan' for some reason, it speaks well

lol.... well, you tell that to my Muse... lol..
ah, flesh/hand....dabbing tears, staving wounds...wiping fevered brow..you knew that dincha? Well "indelible" written by hand that wishes it permanent...like maybe god? It can not be hidden nor denied...these things my skin knows...some my mouth has never spoken of..yet... but I look, as I age, and see white spots where pigmentation has changed... it no longer tans where those scars are.... indelible...
ty Kevin...I am alwaysssss busy. I have painted and beaded eight pictures today and written two or three poems, held two contests..and have the flu..how's that for multi-tasking?
