Perishing Fire

In pride's indolence
we choke,
lethargic and obtuse,
desensitised
to persecution
under obelisks
of aloof.

Flames of harmony
smothered
by ignorance,
surrounded within
contentments walls.

Inferno's
of forgotten dreams,
lick and taunt
our trivial attempts
of solid identity.

In shoes of indifference
we allow the fire
to exhale
hope.

WOW! U know I like stuff like this dont you? you have to be gaylene...if nit sorry!! This is very powerful and has a stronger meaning then what meets the eye! I like the feel that this poem brings out! The refrence to flame just fits so well!!

    lick and taunt
