Colours of beauty, reds and golds
to the eye a joy to behold
as breezes softly pull and tug
leaves floating gently, earth's new rug.
In readiness for winter white
autumn's colours bold and bright
delighting senses in stately hues
for nature's beauty all to view.
Children's laughter racing through
skipping in leaves, such joy anew
buried up to neck and face
jumping up to join the chase.
In secret fairies one last dance
their grace puts all in a trance
then a rustling leaf they hear
and off they race for another year.
In gentle breaths she calls the tune
hear her warn of winter soon
savour all the wonders spread
and through her time carefully tread.

Beautiful images here and congratulations on the gold trophy, well deserved for this refreshing read. Sorry I never had time to read or comment earlier, but better late than never as they say!

Lovely!
Although the leaves are just beginning to turn in the eastern panhandle of WV, I enjoyed the walk in the woods as I read your poem and I look forward to our trees being in full color in another few weeks! Truly loved your poem.
