Author notes

Older we get longer is the Bio ...!!!

I was born in a small town of eastern France 51 years ago an art lover and passionate with nature and biology I studied Landscape gardening near Paris.
I worked as project landscape gardener for a Paris suburb regional office for few years before deciding to be trained and to do social work with children in care (This was after a project in connection with children of one of the most deprived area of Paris.)
At age 27 I emigrated in Italy were I continued to work with children as a teacher and graduated in languages and translations.
I eventually move to London at age 32 were I married and had 2 children.
I was then confronted to many difficulties in my life, between my daughter’s health problems and my son disability (Diagnosed with “high functioning autism” 4 years ago at age 6.)

I have written poetry since age 10 and now can write in 3 different languages (French Italian and English) however, English has become my main language of expression not without any difficulties…
I remarried few years ago and have been blessed with a very patient and responsible husband who has developed an excellent relationship with both my children.

This is really more like the kind of bio that you might send to a literary agent when you are seeking represention; they often require a page long bio and it should be tailored towards the subject matter of your book; for instance, if you were writing about domestic violence or autism -- it would be especially pertinent to mention how that has impacted your life and writing.

For the sake of this "workshop", while it's interesting for people to read your longer piece, you would need to put a very pared down version in your author's notes. If you look at the link I provided, the bios are very short and only one to four lines are desired.

Here is an example of what I, as an editor, might glean from this info:

Fabienne Whiting was born in the shadow of the blue line of the French Vosgues and later moved to the Italian Vesuvius. A wife and mother of two, for the past nineteen years, she has made her home in London.

or an even shorter version, which might be practical:

Fabienne Whiting was born in France, lived in Italy and now makes her home in London where she writes poetry in English, her third language.

This is the kind of info that is most relevant to the collection, I feel.

Thank you for your participation and all the best with your writing. Perhaps you will write a longer work or memoir based on your, no doubt, interesting life experiences.

It is interesting for me to have done this job as a friend of mine is trying to find somebody to edit some of my writing may it will be useful in the future... Thank you so much.
