Windswept tuffs of whitened waves,
Foam tips that dive and disappear,
She controls all the ocean's movements,
Like the whirling cold artic currents.
From soft and warm carribbean blues,
To icy waters and icebergs of Antartica,
The calm after her fierce temper tantrum,
After the wildest sea storm during the bliss of nightfall.
The bashing of the waves,
That crash against the rocky cliffs,
And the gentle stroke against the golden sands,
That tediously lap all day and all night.
Her cold and untamable ways,
And Bitter and twisted ways,
Are expressed through the wild raging rapids,
That claims so many lives in her path.

What gorgeous imagery! I like that this didn't rhyme because it gives a more climatic feel to the piece. I truly admired the vivid imagery and colorful word choice used in this piece. Well done! Congrats on the honorable mention and good luck in this contest.

Beautiful imagery....
I just adore reading about the ocean, and all of its splendor. I spent four years out to sea when I was in the U.S. Navy, and I have had an affinity for it ever since. Breathtaking piece of poetry!
