She sits by light of moon,
listening....
Anticipation squalls across the sea
with the boldness of thunder.
A woman, not yet a woman,
waits expectantly to meet
her Purpose.
Her mind wanders homeward,
leaving her naked form alone.
She dares to steal one final glance
at the faces she adores.
Since birth, they pampered her
with gratitude and reverence.
She wanted for nothing
save the opportunity
to repay their service.
Bidding them farewell,
she slips back into the flesh
on the shore,
tasting the volume
of its most recent sensations.
She discovers that a cool breeze
must have nursed
while she was gone,
and the surf took
amorous liberties where she sat.
As if beckoned by her titillation,
lightening cracks the sky...
Her wedding procession commences at once!
The winds rise to glimpse the bride,
and Neptune lends an elbow.
Adorned in regal dress,
a rosy expression and her bouquet,
she accompanies him to the altar.
Overwhelmed with eagerness,
she races the final steps
toward the groom, on her own.
When she reaches him
she knows this is the moment
to which her whole life had led.
She lifts her arms to
embrace her Destiny,
and he receives her
with one mighty snap
of his immense jowels.
Somewhere under that very moon,
a child cries its first breath
on an eve of great rejoicing.
A princess is born to redeem them
from the creature of the deep.
