I keep telling myself

If only he knew the depth of my heart
and the breadth of my love

he would speak to me with love

If only he knew how I've fought for him
more than anyone else ever has or could

he would treat me with respect

If only he knew what waits for him
if he would just put forth some effort

he would see there is hope

If only he knew that I am nearly done
accepting his excuses and lies

he would stop and think of what his about to lose

Or not.
