Thanks Mom

Missing image

Oh my precious mother how good you are to me,
your love seems unconditional and comes without a fee.

Even though right now your far from me, just know your in my heart,
this time will soon go by and we'll no longer be apart.

We've been through many trials together

you've always stayed by my side,

praying for me, loving on me and saying it's gonna be alright.
I just wanted to thank you for being there,

and you said you liked my poems.

I love you very much mom and it won't be long before I'm home!

Written by: Matthew William Stavron
2006

Matthew wrote this poem for me his Mom and I'm so grateful!!

Author notes

My son wrote this for me last year in 2006. My son passed away on Sept 16, 2007, I miss him terribly and it is Mothers Day on Sunday so I wanted to share this beautiful poem of love my son wrote for me. Matthew was only 24 years old. He loved me very much and it was the third poem he had ever written. Thank you for reading his love for me as well. Oh so blessed I truly was. Even though there were hard times there was also great ones too. May God rest my sons soul. I love you Matthew, Love Mom Sept. 25, 2007/ May 7, 2008.

Actually my son wrote that for me, just less then 1 year before he died! I treasure the few poems he has written so I feel often they are worthy of contests in honor of my son. Thank you for the kind comment.

      Blessings,
      Much Love,

    touching

what a treasure this must be for you... I could only imagine reading it, oh, say 10,000 times How cxool is it that he took the time to express to you in a poem how he felt... writing poetry is notg tghe "coolest" thing for a youngster to do... yet, there is nothing cooler than telling someone (especially your mom) exactly how you feel. Thank you for sharing this with me. I have 3 kids, my wife has 2... plus 2 grandbabies(2 & 6mos)... what a blessing they all are (and now a daughter in-law, and a son-in-law)... we are blessed. There is a piece you should read called "Unthinkable Fates", another called "To Mandy Jo" both true stories that you will relate to.... I am truly enjoying reminiscing with you... I hope it brings some healing, and doens't just resurface the hurt... Kevin

A beautiful show of love from a son who realized what a loving mother he had and I am so happy that he shared this with you before his passing. To show you that he recognized the fact that you were ALWAYS THERE for him in good and bad and that your love was truly unconditional and came without a fee. Your son sounds like a fantastic kid and you will soon be reunited. Im sorry for your son passing away and I hope you make it through.

    Unconditional

That one word says it all goes both ways I feel not only love but how proud he was of you and closeness of your bond the friendship and more love....like all children they have growing pains and take it out on the people closest to them usually family but beneath it all the love here just cannot be denied. Thank you for posting this beautiful poem a joy and a pleasure to read.

    Kelle....

This is just so heartwrenching, yet beautiful all at the same time. Your Matthew knew an still knows your heart. Perhaps better today since he is in heaven and he can see straight through your heart to the very core and really know the depths of your love for him and the intense pain in losing him. Go bless you honey!!!! A beautiful write!!!~~Toni~~

OH my goodness, the poem was lovely, and then you read the bottom and it just breaks your heart, as the mother of two boys, I don't know what i'd do if I lost one of them. Christopher is my youngest, newborn, and the most like me, and Sean is the oldest, Elburritoeater, and both of them I am close to. I am sorry for your loss.

    HOOD-WINK!!!

Your son gave you a very precious gift, his love, wrapped in beautiful words.
I can't even imagine what you're going through these days and I won't pretend I do, but if it's any help: I'll keep you and your son in my thoughts.
I always like to think, when loved ones are gone, that there spirit will fly into the sun, so we can smile at them each morning and each evening.
    Bless his soul.

    You've been hood-winked by a poetic bandit.

    You have...

received a special gift that most mother's who have lost a beloved child will rarely, if ever have. The gift of your son's love expressed in his own words, and straight from his heart. He has left you a legacy of love... Ithica

    Beautiful!!!

This one really chocked up me as I came close to losing my own son not long ago... I to understand the wonderful relationship between a mother and her son as I have been a single parent to him his whole life. May God bless you and your family and may He keep Matthew forever in His embrace.

If there is a heaven then all poets go there. No one who could feel so deeply lifes emotions could ever be bad. Truly expressed here is the simple true love that can only be felt between a mother and her son. I loved the lineraying for me, loving on me and saying it's gonna be alright, (Loving on me) that line so clearly paints an image of a mothers love.
Thank you for sharing this, Devoteddozer.

it says a lot, i think, when our children write for us, how they respect, how they live, how they love...your son shows here, his qualities, admirable ones, ones that would make any parent proud. thank you for sharing this.

    blessings and best wishes,
