Some things
you just can't erase from your soul-
you carry them around with you forever.
Like a veil of sorrow draped over your body,
the ghost of your actions
move with you, flow with you.
I wanted to tell you so much more,
I wanted you to be my confessional,
but my courage abandoned me
when I gave in to the desire
to be what you wanted me to be.
I wanted to be beautiful and pure for you;
good and sweet and devoted.
And I am all of those things - and more.
But I am also a broken vessel,
living in fear that the cracks will eventually show.
You are so much-
so much of everything.
Keeping up the facade of perfection,
I know, will one day drive us apart
if I don't let you glimpse my humanity.
Please tell me what you think

Good
Powerfull compelling words
Confess your soul, if you have a carring friend
yet remember, we need not tell everything to be clean
This was a lot to read or write
I have a favorite saying fron the Book
"Man fully human, is God`s greatest glory"
Give that thrural thought
Very well said
Thank you for reading me

Powerful
The curse of being imperfect in a world where perfection outweighs trust and understanding. A heartache of a write yet so very beautiful in it's innocence.

No Offense Meant
I had been answering and giving stars to a few others and after back surgery it's hard to sit up for to long. I try and say something to everyone who reads; I'm truly sorry I missed you. I messed up.
Blessed Be,

P.S. I'm a connservative in a city, too.

this nearly made me cry
quite beautiful and fervent... passionate and real... I can almost taste my own fear and while it is not quite the same as yours, the feelings you describe are quite honest, human and easy to relate to...
"I wanted to tell you so much more,
I wanted you to be my confessional,
but my courage abandoned me"
those above, to me, are especially touching and poignant lines

Like a veil of sorrow draped over your body,
Great and senstive opening words for this verse
If this poem was spaced and given pauses
it would be perfected

This is very beautifully written, the pain shines through in your words. Keeping up facades isn't a wonderful thing...excellent writing, and have been in these shoes once upon a time...

re: Imperfection
So many woman do this. Why? I am with a wonderful man who expects nothing but my time and I still find myself "morphing" into his ideal. Are we endoctrinated as young girls or something? Hhhhmmmm . . . thank you for reading & thank you for the comments, they were appreciated.

Sadly, honesty, and wonerfully true
I love this...I really love this. I have written a piece like this before, you should look at it...It's called "your everything"....I put the same idea across...And I really like this because so many women go through this problem. I hope that you personally aren't going through this problem yourself, because it is always so painful to experience...But I really like this piece, and hope that I can read more like this of your's soon!...
Slainte,
Mairin
