Falling apart while tears sear my skin
Fighting a losing battle that’s already been rehearsed
Emotional responses hold my heart hostage
Hope’s a blessing for some, but for me… a curse
This blessing is all that gets me through
In pressing times that test my strength
But this curse wraps me in arms of sin
When it whispers to hold on, and to give in
It is these moments I discover
The conflicts of the mind and heart
While wanting that which I desire
I know that we are worlds apart
Though to you I convey my thoughts
You cannot understand my mind
You are the flame that warms my skin
But I fear I’ll never call you mine
Please tell me what you think

Mother Sister! You've returned! I missed you soooo much! Hope is a blessing and curse, it's true. Always looking around the corner, hoping to see him there wiht open arms and yet knowing that it's probably just an illusion. The last stanza is my favorite. I'm so glad you're back.

wow... it's been awhile since i read a new poem by you.
a blessing and a curse... well, i have to admit that what i consider to be my blessings, i never thought of as curses... but now that i read your poem, i can understand when it comes to giving in to something you don't want to.... esp in the matters of your heart... how it can seem that way.
Glad to see you writing again.

I know it has been a while but my muse finally decided to pay me a visit long enough to finish a poem. I'v started several but never able to finish. My intense feelings about a situation finally brought out a complete poem...thank you for reading.
