Nailed To Loneliness - HM

Missing image

My obedience to lashing abandonment to my back,
carrying it through life like a self-subscribed cross,
like a crow of judgment sitting above my head
cawing his mericilous “You are not worthy..”
at every attempt I have been hesitant to make
to traverse a map of unforgiving land

How a dove’s melancholy evening prayer
wishes mercy through the night but I lay
contorted with insomnia that has a name and a face;
a ghostly vapored figure giving voice to loon call
and glimpse of lone goose within willow’s mend
in hopes to rise again.

I am exhausted in this loss of loving you
and keeping moonlight’s memory alive
where lack of supportive echoes rise upon mist’s
emptiness that folds me tired and world-worn
of flesh and bone absence in this vile vision of you

I am hollow reed to dry lip and dark vision
that plays a single sad flute on sorrow’s
self-actualized trail of tears that one must have tread
to ever begin to visualize how nailed I am to this
