Temptation Brought By Sin

It comes from an unknown insipid source
Arriving in shadowed shapeless forms
The Devil their pilot, delivers their plea
Upon gold laced winged flyers they come
Fiendish foils to feed off the frailty of me

Offering glitter encrusted pleasures
By this satanic angel of false glow
Leading my weakened soul easily to dark light
Tortured with bait meant for the corruptible
Calling on me to lust for more, and more

This king of all beast easily tempts
Holds on my senses ferociously and bold
Wielding a veiled weapon, easily finding false targets
Leaving one bruised, battered, and bleeding
But this attack is something that can be fought back

Search to the sky, or call upon the Lord
No matter your belief, employ your own sword
Care what you do, who you love, and how you stroll
Do not be induced to dine where you should not be
His appeal is for those blinded but who can likely see

Remember this lesson and take hold
Strength from within is born to the bold
Do not be tempted by this exhaustible force
Satan, easy to find, easier to read, is a defeatable foe
Once turned away this rogue ceases to be.

Author notes

Prompt: temptation

Inspired by:

"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self" Aristotle, and

"Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Wow! Wonderful job here. So very true indeed. The devil comes in many forms, but his most commonly used, temptation. Great job getting your thoughts and feelings down here. Keep up the good work and good luck in your contest

Yes, this is the way to turn from temptation. Turning to God, no matter what you prefer to call Him, always helps. Temptation is dark in this piece and somehow I knew that the face of temptation needs to be shown in this way too. Well written. Good luck in this contest.

    Rich in words and meaning

just like the swords piercing and bold, protecting
    and uplifting, even shielding.
Excellent job! Really enjoy that you let out the warrior
in you to write this! Good Good Job!
