My Fear

When I go to bed or trick or treat,
I know he is there behind my feet.

Not my shadow--it's in front,
But something waiting to leap and jump.

My ghost, my guardian, my fear, my love.
It's hard as rock and gentle as a dove.

If it must, it will fight with the magic of fear.
Even now he's hidden here...

Somewhere creeping,
Never sleeping,

Protecting, scaring, floating, drifting,
I confess...my fear is never missing.

The Halloween chills are drawing near,
when it comes I might be cold with fear.

In time it may disappear,
But for now...he is always here...

Author notes

I used picture inspired (e) but I also used real life scares.

This poem reminded me of one or two short stories I read in english class. It reminds me of the situations where the most loyal and dedicated thing in your entire life is something that is following you so that it can kill you. Okay. I'm done being morbid now. Good job!

I agree with the other judges on this one. It's a great piece, yes the rhyming is a little off but overall it is quite worth reading and personally I enjoyed it very much. Very nicely done indeed!

Oooh awesome write! ^_^ I really like how you ended it, I really like these two lines
My ghost, my guardian, my fear, my love.
It's hard as rock and gentle as a dove.
This is the best part in my opinion cause you make him sound fearful but yet gentle and thats awesome ^_^
